Credits and licences
Built on other people's work. This is whose, and on what terms.
Everything on the globe that is not ours is listed here, with the licence it comes under and a way to reach us if you hold rights in any of it.
Satellite imagery Esri
The photographic surface you see on the final approach to a stadium is Esri's World Imagery service. Imagery © Esri, Maxar, Earthstar Geographics, and the other contributors named in the corner of the globe as you move. That line is generated per tile by the map engine and is never hidden.
The drawn globe Natural Earth
Country shapes, the shaded relief and the world's coastlines are from Natural Earth, which is in the public domain. The flat-shaded style is drawn in the manner of Sebastian Lague's Geographical Adventures.
Where the stadiums are, and their shape OpenStreetMap · Wikidata
Stadium positions were resolved from Wikidata (CC0) and OpenStreetMap, through the Overpass and Nominatim services. The outline of each ground and the pitch inside it — the plan every little stadium on the globe is drawn from — are OpenStreetMap's.
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database Licence. The stadium drawings are a Produced Work under that licence. The extracted outlines they are drawn from are a derivative database, and the licence asks that it be offered too: it is footprints.json, published here under ODbL 1.0.
Scores and fixtures ESPN, unofficial
Live scores, fixtures, line-ups and match statistics are read from ESPN's public scoreboard, which is not a documented or licensed API. Stadium Earth is not affiliated with or endorsed by ESPN. What is shown are the facts of a match — who is playing, where, and the score — and the feed can change or stop without notice.
Club crests and competition logos Trademarks of their owners
Crests and competition logos are the trademarks of the clubs and competitions they belong to, shown unaltered except in size, solely to identify the club or competition a fixture involves. Their use implies no affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement. Where a crest is not shown, a club is identified by the colours of its kit instead.
Any rights holder who would rather their mark did not appear here can say so at mielflow@gmail.com, and it is switched off within minutes, without a release. The same address is the one for anything else on this page.
Radio Radio Browser · the broadcasters themselves
The list of stations near each ground comes from Radio Browser, a community-maintained directory. The audio itself does not: what plays is the broadcaster's own stream, at the broadcaster's own address, and your browser connects to it directly. Nothing is relayed, recorded or rebroadcast by us.
Match commentary is never embedded. Where a station carries a match, Stadium Earth links to the rights holder's own page, and plays a station only to listeners in the territory it is licensed for.
Software and type
The globe is rendered by CesiumJS 1.145 (Apache 2.0) and the interface by React (MIT). The typefaces are Archivo and IBM Plex Mono, both under the SIL Open Font Licence, served by Google Fonts.
